Blair Lister, Creative Director & Tree Hugger
Approach & Philosophy
Self-taught through 25 years of hands-on experience, from recording voiceovers internationally to building a freelance business that led to recruitment by Disney. This learn-by-doing approach created adaptability, resourcefulness, and the ability to solve problems independently - essential qualities for dynamic, mission-driven organizations. I believe deeply in using media to create connection, foster community, and amplify meaningful work.
Strategy & Pre-Production
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is the visioning phase - developing strategy, understanding client objectives, and translating big ideas into actionable creative plans. I go to great lengths to communicate clearly with clients and bring assurance to the process, from initial concept and scripting through to administrative details. This strategic foundation is what allows everything downstream to succeed. Whether working independently or within teams, I prioritize alignment on vision before moving to execution, which saves time, prevents miscommunication, and results in work that actually achieves its purpose.
Production & Collaboration
Whether the hours are behind the computer or the camera, I'm consistently on time and on budget. Self-directed work suits me well - I'm focused and don't require oversight to maintain momentum. Within collaborative environments, I respond constructively to feedback and delegate effectively when leading teams. I enjoy both the action of being in the field, capturing content, and the precision work of perfecting the finer details of imagery and composition. Remote collaboration has become second nature, having worked successfully with teams across Canada, the US, and internationally.
Post-Production & Storytelling
Editing is where the story truly comes together - shaping narrative through color, sound, pacing, and the subtle choices that determine whether content resonates or gets scrolled past. I've developed skills in distilling large volumes of footage into a brand's essential messaging, adapting content across formats from educational long-form documentary style to 15-second reels and stories. My favourite work tends to be highlight reels - those concentrated moments that capture the essence of an experience and evoke genuine emotion. The thrill of editing is matched only by the satisfaction of helping clients achieve their objectives and witnessing their gratitude when the work lands well.
